(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov announced on Thursday, that about 2,000 people have left the Russian Union countries to join the organization of the Islamic state in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The Russian agency “Sputnik” quoted Barinov as saying in a newspaper interview: “We have, according to different estimates, about two thousand people, who have travelled from Russia to Syria and Iraq to join ISIS.”

Barinov pointed out that “the Russian Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs is cooperating with the Russian special services to create a system that can analyze Web sites and the media in order to detect extremism and terrorist propaganda and electronic materials, which includes a serious content.”
