Jihadist group in Egypt joins ISIS, swears allegiance to Baghdadi

(IraqiNews.com) On Monday, Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, the largest militant Islamic group in Egypt, announced that it had joined the organization of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and pledged allegiance to its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

A recorded speech posted on Ansar Bayt al-Maqdes’ Twitter page stated, that the media department of the group published a voice speech in which it pledged allegiance to the ‘caliph’ Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the Islamic state.

For many years, Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis have lead a campaign against the Egyptian government that claimed the lives of hundreds of security forces in the Sinai Peninsula and other districts.
