(IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) published video footage showing the execution of at least 28 people Ethiopian Christians in Libya after they refused to convert into Islam.

The video, posted on ISIS affiliated websites, showed 12 people being beheaded on a beach, and 16 others in a desert being shot in the head.

According to the 29-minute video, ISIS gave the choice for Christians in the controlled areas like Syria and Iraq to either pay al-Jezyah (the tribute) or convert to Islam or be executed.

Moreover, ISIS published photos of churches, Christian tombs, statues of religious icons and crucifixes being destroyed in the Iraqi province of Mosul, as Christian civilians refused to pay the tribute and convert into Islam.

The video showed elements in military uniforms walking in a desert area and pointing guns to at least 16 people’s heads, while 12 others were walking on a beach surrounded by elements in military uniforms, too.

ISIS announced that the desert area is located in the state of Fazzan, south-central of Libya, while the beach is located in the state of Cyrenaica, east of the country.

An ISIS element in the desert talked in English, saying, “To the nation of the cross, here we are back again to tell you that Muslim blood is not cheap.”

According to the video, the executed were followers of the Ethiopian Church.

ISIS announced last February the execution of 21 Egyptian Copts in Libya as well.
