(IraqiNews.com) BAGHDAD – At least 80 people were killed and around 230 injured when suicide bombers attacked a large demonstration in the Afghan capital of Kabul. This was informed by an official from the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan on Saturday.

Mohammad Ismail Kawousi, a spokesman of the Ministry said “At least 80 people were killed and 230 injured in a suicide attack on a demonstration in Kabul. The dead and injured have been taken to nearby hospitals.”

ISIS, in a statement issued through its affiliated news agency Aamaq, claimed responsibility of the attack.

The protesters, mostly ethnic minority Hazaras, were marching to demand that their impoverished home province be included in a major new electricity line. Most Hazaras are Shiite Muslims, while most Afghans are Sunni.

It may be mentioned here that the attack is one of the deadliest in Afghanistan since the Taliban launched a violent insurgency in 2001.
