Homs (Syria News) Several members of the Syrian regime forces and their affiliated militias were killed in a surprise attack launched by the Islamic State group on the Syrian-Iraqi borders.

Qasioun News reported that a surprise attack launched by the Islamic State radical group on the headquarters of the Syrian regime forces and their affiliated militias, located in Wadi al-Waer on the Syrian-Iraqi borders, killing more than 20 security members.

The attack allowed the terrorist group to retake al-Waer area and Dam, as well as capturing three soldiers and destroying two cannons and several vehicles, Qasioun added.

Meanwhile, similar clashes broke out near al-Hail oil field, east of Palmyra, amid mutual rocket and artillery shelling, leaving several casualties.

It is noteworthy that the Islamic State militants managed in the last few days to launch several attacks on the headquarters of the Syrian regime forces, retaking a number of areas.
