Raqqa (SyriaNews.media) The Syrian Democratic Forces announced, on Sunday, capturing al-Mansoura Town, in western Raqqa, after battles with the Islamic State group.

The Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement saying that its forces managed to capture al-Mansoura Town, located on Raqqa-Tabqa road, near al-Baath Dam, in western Raqqa.

Earlier yesterday, a SDF leader revealed that the security forces captured more than 75% of al-Mansoura Town, and pointed out that the Islamic State withdrew from al-Badiyah and the city of Raqqa.

Noteworthy, violent battles are taking place between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Islamic State group in the vicinity of Raqqa, in order to tighten the grip on the terrorist group before the launch of an offensive to retake the city.
