(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Wedding fun and frolic turned to tears late on Saturday night when a wedding ceremony at Gaziantep in Turkey was hit by an explosion. The explosion occurred near the Syria border.

Turkish deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek stated that the explosion seems to have been triggered by a suicide bomber.

Governor of Gaziantep Ali Yerlikaya in a statement issued to the media said, “The blast, which took place at around 11 pm local time on Saturday at Akdere neighborhood of Sahin Bey district, was a terror attack. Death toll due to the attack have reached to 51 dead with 94 others being severely injured.”

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, “A suicide bombing which killed 51 people in the Turkish city of Gaziantep was carried out by a 12 to 14-year-old child.”

“ISIS is behind the attack, which targeted a Kurdish wedding party. Gaziantep is known to have several ISIS cells,” Erdogan added.

In a written statement published by Turkish media, Erdogan argued that there was no difference between ISIS, the Kurdish PKK and followers of cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom he blames for the failed coup attempt of last month.
