Homs (SyriaNews.media) Syrian Air Force, on Sunday, carried out air strikes on towns, in eastern Homs, while clashes broke out between regime forces and the Islamic State militants, east of the city of Palmyra, Qasioun News Agency reported.

The agency stated that warplanes of the Syrian Air Forces bombarded the city of al-Sokhna and al-Taiba town, in eastern Homs, concurrently with an artillery shelling on the area.

Meanwhile, clashes broke out between government forces and the Islamic State militants in the vicinity of silos, east of the city of Palmyra, while the IS militants managed to foil the attempt of the regime forces to advance into the vicinity of al-Abtar Mountain and Kasr al-Halabat, west of Palmyra.

Furthermore, several civilians were injured in an artillery shelling conducted by the government forces on al-Houla area, north of Homs.

Noteworthy, ongoing battles take place between the Islamic State militants and Syrian government forces in the city of Palmyra, in an attempt by the latter to advance toward Deir Ezzor, east of Syria.
