URGENT: Iran threatens to target ISIS in Iraqi territory with ground forces

(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, the commander of the Iranian army’s ground forces, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, threatened to target ISIS fighters in Iraqi territory if they try to get close to the Iranian border.

Pourdastan said in a statement that “today, ground forces are preparing to defend the country’s borders and create the necessary strategies to match the type of threats that are in the path of the advancing Iran’s security.”

The ground force commander confirmed that “The Iranian Army monitors all ISIS movements inside Iraq and it is ready to target the terrorist group in Iraqi territory if it approaches the Iranian border,” noting that “such an option y is available to the ground forces of the Iranian army.”
