Abbawi heads meeting of Iraqi-Australian Committee

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for the Policy Planning and Bilateral Relations, Labeed Abbawi headed the meeting of the Iraqi-Australian Committee.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry received by IraqiNews.com cited “The Committee of following-up the implementation of the understanding pact signed between the Government of the Republic of Iraq and the Government of Australia held a meeting on Wednesday in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Australia.”

“The Iraqi delegation headed by Abbawi and the Australian side while Ms. Jennifer Rossin Assistant Australian Foreign Minister for Middle East Affairs headed the Australian side,” the statement added.

“The participants expressed their remarks on the achievements made and the obstacles that hinder the implementation of the agreed parts in these memoranda, and gave both sides concrete proposals for the development of joint action and cooperation in order to reach the desired goals of these memoranda,” the statement pointed out.

The statement assured “The two sides agreed to continue the talks which will be summarized by a final document that includes a summary for discussions, results and follow-up mechanism until holding the meeting of the next session in Baghdad.”

“The meeting was attended by representatives from relevant Iraqi ministries and their counterparts from the Australian side,” the statement concluded.
