Arab Group elects Iraq Coordinator for Disarmament Conference

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Delegates of the Arab Group to the United Nations in New York elected Iraq’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Mohammed Ali Al Hakeem, as coordinator of the Group for the Preparatory Committee for the Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by IraqiNews.com cited “The Conference will be held in New York for the period from April 28 to May 9, 2014.”

“Iraq will coordinate the Arab efforts, crystallize the unified Arab position, recite the Group’s statement, submit the Arab working papers, and deliberate with the presidency of the Conference. This mission entrusted to Iraq will continue until 2015,” the statement concluded.
