Barzani informs Russia about KR’s inability to purchase weapons without CG’s approval

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Peshmerga Ministry of Kurdistan Regional Government announced that the “KR President, Masoud Barzani informed Russia that the Region cannot purchase any weapons from Russia without the Central Government’s approval.”

The Secretary General of Peshmerga Ministry, Maj. Gen. Jabaar Yawar, said that “The KRG cannot purchase any kind of weapons from Russia unless the Central Government of Iraq approves that, stressing “Barzani has informed the Russian officials about this fact.”

“It is necessary to arm Peshmerga forces with light and heavy weapons to be able to protect the KR and the Iraqi borders,” Yawar added.

Barzani concluded his official visit to Russia on last Sunday.
