Erbil (BasNews) Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani and Brett McGurk, the US Special Presidential Envoy to the Global Coalition to Counter the Islamic State (IS) discussed bilateral ties and the anti-IS military efforts in Mosul.

Barzani received on Monday a US delegation headed by Brett McGurk and consisting of Douglass Silliman, the US Ambassador to Iraq, General Townsend, the Commander of Coalition forces and Ken Gross, the US Consul General in Erbil.

McGurk stated in a tweet that he reviewed the Mosul campaign with Barzani and praised the performance of the Peshmerga forces in the battle against IS.

The pair also offered condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in the battle against the extremists, according to McGurk.

The future of the relations between Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and US as well as Baghdad-Erbil ties were also among the topics of the discussions between the parties.
