Barzani to Sadr: Disputes with Maliki not personal

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, confirmed the crisis with the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, is not personal.

The spokesman of Kurdistan Region Presidency, Omeed Sabah, stated to IraqiNews.com “Barzani received a generous call from the head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, to meet the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, in Najaf to discuss the current crisis.”

“Barzani appreciates Sadr’s call and confirms that the disputes between him and Maliki are not personal rather they are related to the problem of rule represented by neglecting the constitution and the concluded agreements,” he added.

“We assure that Barzani is pleased always to meet his brother, Sadr,” he concluded.

Earlier, head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, called the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, and the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, to head to Najaf province to settle the disputes between Baghdad and Erbil.

A statement by Sadr’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Sadr invited Maliki and Barzani to visit Najaf province to discuss the latest crisis between the two sides in order to settle it.”
