Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Secretary General of the White bloc, Jamal al-Bateikh stated “No side has the right to object forming Dijla Operations Command.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Tuesday , he said “Forming Dijla OC is constitutional where it was done by the order of the General Commander of the Armed Forces, Nouri al-Maliki, and he is constitutionally authorized to from the military units and their operations.”

“The objections over forming Dijla OC are unjustified and we call the objected sides to reconsider their stances for the sake of Iraq and its interests without looking for the personal interests,” he added,

“The operations of the Iraqi Army in the disputed areas are not for a political purpose as some state, but to defend the areas that lacks security,” he concluded.

Earlier, the President of Kurdistan region, Masoud Barzani, said in a statement on last Monday “We will take whatever steps necessary to cancel Dijla Operations Command as the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, is not bound by the pledges he made to the country’s president.”

He added “We believed from the beginning that the TOC would be a major factor in further destabilizing the province and that it doesn’t serve the article 140 of the Iraqi permanent constitution as it is against the Kurds, democracy process and the spirit of co-existence.”
