Canada announces inaugurating its Embassy in Iraq in 2014

Bagdad (IraqiNews.com) The new Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Bruno Sakomana, informed the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Ali Muhsin al-Allaq, the intention of Canada to inaugurate an Embassy in Iraq in February 2014 after a boycott lasted for 23 years.

The Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers quoted Allaq as saying in a statement received by IraqiNews.com ”A delegation of businessmen that represent the Canadian Business Council will attend the inauguration ceremony of the Canadian Embassy which will contribute in activating cooperation prospects between Iraq and Canada.””Allaq and the Canadian Ambassador discussed the means of promoting bilateral relations where Allaq assured existence of many common interests and a desire to develop investment of Canada in Iraq in fields of housing, industry, agriculture and services,” the statement concluded. \END\
