Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Kurdish Change bloc, that opposes the current Kurdish regime, called Baghdad to interfere in the decision of extending the term of the current president of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani.
MP, Latif Mustafa, of the Change bloc stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “It is strange to decide the date of holding the elections in Kurdistan Region by Barzani, then the Independent High Electoral Commission prepares for it and then postpone it where it is like a game and there is no meaning for democracy since the parliament extends its own term which is not allowed.”
He called “The governmental institutions in the Federal Government and the parliament of the FG to hold their responsibility and interfere in this decision because after being relieved from the Seventh Chapter of the UN’s Charter, Iraq assured that it will hold the elections on time and it should be done because it will defame Iraq.”
Earlier, the parliament of Kurdistan Region extended the term of the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, for two years after the end of his current term in addition to extending the term of the parliament till the 1st of November 2013.
A statement by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan received by IraqiNews.com quoted the head of the Kurdistani bloc, Suzan Shihab, as saying “According to these two laws, the term of the parliament will be extended till the 1st of November 2013 if the parliamentary elections be held on the 21st of September 2013 and the second decision is to extend Barzani’s term for two more years where the constitution of Kurdistan Region will be amended during this period.”
