Chaos interrupts Parliament session

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Osama al-Nijaifi, decided to lift the session of the Council on Monday for one hour after voting on membership of eight out of nine candidates for the Commissioners’ Board of the Independent High Electoral Commission.

“Chaos started in the session of the Council after finalizing the voting on the members of the IHEC’s board because some blocs reject to endorse the ninth member,” security source reported to IraqiNews.com.

“The Christian entity objected limiting the candidate of the minorities by the Turkmen’s candidate that caused a state of chaos inside the session to force the Speaker to lift the session,” the source concluded.
