Czech offers humanitarian aid to Iraq – Syria

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Czech will give 15 million korunas (594,000 U.S. dollars) to help Iraqi and Syrian people afflicted by the ongoing conflicts in their home countries, Czech Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

Half of the subsidies will be spent on three projects for Iraqis and the rest goes to three projects for Syrians.

The subsidies for Iraqis will be used for purchasing food and materials for displaced people in the north of the country. While in Syria, the subsidies will be used to afford materials, health and psychological services, and education, as well as to support Syrian refugees in Jordan.

According to the ministry, the projects for the two countries will be implemented by a non-governmental organization.

Czech government has agreed to grant asylum to selected refugees from Syria and provide medical treatment for Syrian children in Czech hospitals earlier this year. (1 U.S. dollar = 25.24 Czech Korunas) /End/
