Dabbagh denies assigning him as ambassador for Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The former spokesperson of the government, Ali al-Dabbagh, denied assigning him as an ambassador for Iraq in one of the Arab countries.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “The reports over assigning me as an ambassador for Iraq are groundless.”

Earlier, a source within the Foreign Ministry revealed that the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki approved to appoint Ali al-Dabbagh as Ambassador for Iraq in an Arab country.

The Iraqi government dismissed Dabbagh in 2012 as its spokesperson on corruption charges related to arms deal with Russia.

The source told IraqiNews.com on Wednesday “Maliki signed formal letter forwarded by the Foreign Ministry, requesting to appoint Dabbagh Ambassador for Iraq in a certain Arab country.”

“The decision of the appointment came in return of non-revealing files pertaining to the government via notable Arab Satellite Channel,” according to the source.
