FIP calls to conduct investigation over Waili’s assassination

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Fadhila Islamic Party called “The government to hold its responsibility and conduct an immediate investigation to reveal the assassinators of the former Governor of Basra province, Mohamed Musbih al-Waeli.”

A statement by the FIP received by IraqiNews.com on Friday cited “In a new crime that is added to the black history of the criminals, a terrorist group assassinated the former Basra Governor, Mohamed al-Waeli, to add a new Legion of Honor for him.”

“The FIP praises the late Waili and strongly condemn this criminal action where it calls the government to conduct an immediate investigation to reveal the sides behind assassinating him,” the statement added.

Waili was assassinated in Jazaer area in Basra province.

Security source mentioned to IraqiNews.com on Friday that ”Unidentified gunmen opened fire targeting Waili, killing him immediately, in Jazaer area,” noting that “The security forces transported his dead body to the morgue.”

The source added “The security forces cordoned off the incident area and launched an investigation to figure out the circumstances and sides behind this incident.” \
