 First Indian envoy in Erbil begins mission

(IraqiNews.com) Erbil – Deepak Miglani, Indian Consulate General, on Tuesday officially began his mission in Erbil. He is the first Indian envoy to Kurdistan Region.

Sharing details about his mission, a well placed source in Erbil informed that Miglani, in his first meeting, sat with Head of Department of Foreign Relations of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)Falah Mustafa and introduced himself India’s first diplomat deployed to Erbil.

Mustafa assured him of KRG’s full support for his mission in Kurdistan Region, DFR said on its official website.

“After briefing Miglani on the war against ISISI, the role of Kurdish Peshmerga in fighting ISIS and the situation of nearly two million IDPs and refugees sheltered in the region, Mustafa called for India’s military and humanitarian support to Erbil,” the source further informed quoting a senior government official who sought anonymity.

“Miglani praised the Peshmerga and KRG for their roles in the war against ISIS and expressed India’s solidarity with Kurdistan Region,” the sourced further added.
