Hakim, Canadian Ambassador to Iraq discuss bilateral relations

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, urged the Government of Canada to elevate its diplomatic representation in Iraq.

A statement by Hakim’s office cited “Hakim received at his office in Baghdad the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Gwozdecky, where the former stressed Iraq’s aspiration to strengthen the relations with Canada in different fields.”

“For his part, the Canadian Ambassador confirmed his country’s willingness to enhance its ties with Iraq referring to arrangements being conducted for the visit of the Canadian Foreign Minister to Iraq to be the first visit of this kind since 20 years,” the statement concluded.
