Hakim, delegation of Barzani’s party discuss crisis between CG, KR
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, and a delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party headed by the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, discuss the political crisis between the Central Government and Kurdistan Region.
A statement by Hakim’s office received by IraqiNews.com on Sunday cited “Hakim received the secretary of the political office of the KDP, Fadhil Merani, and the Chief of the Military Staff, Babaker Zebari, where he stressed the necessity of facing the regional situation with internal unity.”
“Hakim urged to settle the crisis between the CG and KR according to the constitution to sustain security in Iraq,” the statement added.
“For his part, Merani appreciated Hakim’s initiatives to settle the internal crises of Iraq and reviewed the results of the meetings between Baghdad and the Kurdish officials, assuring that the Kurds aim to sustain stability in the central and the middle of Iraq as the other provinces of KR,” the statement concluded.
