Hakim, Larejani review events in Iraq, region

(IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed with the head of the Islamic Shura Council, Ali Larejani, the general situation in Iraq and the region.

The Iranian Mehr News Agency reported that “Larejani stressed during welcoming Hakim, the necessity to preserve the national unity in Iraq and eliminate the internal political disputes.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran always seeks to strengthen the bilateral relations with Iraq,” he added confirming “The Iraqi people are able to foil the foreign conspiracies through abandoning their disputes.”

“For his part, Hakim briefed Larejani on the latest updates in Iraq and the region,” the statement concluded.

Hakim has arrived to Tehran to participate in the 26th world Islamic Union Conference in Iran.

Tehran witnessed the start of the conference’s activities on last Sunday with participation of large number of scholars from Iran and 102 countries around the world.
