Hakim, Maliki discuss measures taken to address current crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, called to exert more efforts to get rid of the current escalated crisis in Iraq.

A statement by the SIIC cited that “Hakim met the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki and renewed during the meeting his call for the Iraqiya Slate to reconsider its decision concerning boycotting the Parliament’s sessions,” noting that “The Parliament has big role in amending the laws and facilitating the procedures to meet the demonstrators’ demands.”

“Both sides discussed the demands of the demonstrators and the important measures taken to meet them,” the statement added.

“For his part, Maliki stressed that his meeting with Hakim is a complement for the previous meetings that gathered him with the head of the SIIC,” the statement concluded.
