Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, stressed that the demonstrations are good phenomena despite some of the mistakes accompanied them.
In a joint press conference held with the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, after a meeting between them, Hakim assured “We held a long meeting in which we discussed strengthening the relations between the State of Law Coalition and the SIIC to serve the citizens in the next stage.”
“We also reviewed the political situation in the country and the demonstrations in the western and southern parts of Iraq,” he added.
“The right for conducting demonstrations is ensured by the constitution but they must be adherent to the legal procedures,” he stressed.
“We also discussed the regional situation and we think that wisdom will enable us to accomplish the public demands and to consolidate national unity and harmony away from sectarianism,” he concluded.
