Hashimi describes arresting Esawi’s guards as Unsurprising
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The sentenced to death in absentia Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, described arresting the guards of the Finance Minister, Rafi al-Esawi, as “Unsurprising.”
A statement by Hashimi’s office received by IraqiNews.com on Friday cited “Hashimi is acquainted with the violations against Esawi which are similar to those against Hashimi a year ago.”
The statement quoted Hashimi, as saying “What happened to Esawi is unsurprising and we warned from it because the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, will not be in rest unless targeting all those who oppose him.”
“I express my sympathy with Esawi and wish the victory to the Iraqiya Alliance and its masses,” he concluded.
