Iran’s assistance to Iraq limited to consultation, advice: Afkham

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iran’s assistance to Iraq is limited to consultation and advisory help, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference, she added that Iran continues its consultations to the Iraqi government against ISIL terrorist group.
The Iraqi people and government are determined to defeat terrorists and liberation of parts of Mosul by the Iraqi Army and volunteer forces proved the fact that terrorists have no place in Iraq, Afkham said.
She noted that ISIL supporters should realize their responsibility towards this group’ crimes and cut their support.

Iran would use its spiritual influence to guarantee the region’s security, Afkham added.
She said that good relations with neighbors is Iran’s foreign policy priority.

Commenting on a Egyptian court’s decree accusing Hamas of terrorism, Afkham said that Egyptian officials should know that such acts will be manipulated by the Zionist regime.
Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, during the 2003 US invasion of the Muslim country. The two neighbors have further strengthened their military ties following a surge in terrorist attacks against Iraq.
