Iran, Iraq Seek Restoration of Regional Stability says Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Marzieh Afkham said on Monday that Iran and Iraq seek restoration of stability and tranquility by regional cooperation

The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great importance to the upcoming visit of Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi to Tehran and believes that prospects of mutual cooperation are very promising, she said.

By the upcoming visit of Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi to Tehran bilateral ties between the two countries enter a new phase, Afkham said.

The Iraqi prime minister is to confer with Iranian high ranking officials on the latest developments in the region to find a way to resolve the crises in the region, she said.

The Iraqi premier is to start his regional tour through Iran and will arrive in Tehran at the head of a senior Iraqi delegation, Afkham said.

The visit is aimed to help boost level of mutual relations and cooperation in energy, housing, construction as well as trade and commerce, she said.

The Spokeswoman said that the Iranian and Iraqi officials will exchange views and take into account the current complicated developments in the region and the ways to restore peace and stability in the region.

Iran is also determined to help Iraq in its fight against terrorism, Afkham said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran backs a united and secured Iraq and is to help broaden mutual cooperation in line with mutual interests, she said.

Afkham said that Iran is determined to help Iraq thwart the menaces of terrorism. /End/
