Iraq calls for unified Arab stance against ISIL

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com)- Visiting Iraqi Vice President Nouri al-Maliki called on Tuesday for a unified Arab stance to face the danger of terrorism represented by the Islamic State Group (IS).

Al-Maliki and the accompanying delegation met with the Lebanon Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri with talks featuring high on the latest developments in the region and the stalking terrorist danger.

Al-Maliki indicated that viewpoints were convergent over the necessity to protect Iraq and the entire region from terrorism and to work on unifying stance on the face of this danger.

Al-Maliki met at Monday evening with Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and said “we are confident that the people and governments of the region would defeat the terrorist IS group.”

A statement issued by Hezbollah said Nasrallah and al-Maliki expressed their “absolute trust in the inevitability of the victory of the people and the governments of the region against the IS and groups resembling it.”

Such groups and “their destructive plans don’t have a future in any country of the region,” it added.

The statement said that Nasrallah and al-Maliki agreed on the measures to confront terrorism and “the importance of cooperation to confront sectarian strife and Takfiri movements.”

Al-Maliki arrived in Beirut on Sunday for a 3-day official visit. /End/
