Iraq objects contract between Kuwait, Israeli company to protect borders

(IraqiNews.com) Basra local government revealed that Kuawit has concluded a contract with an Israeli security company to secure the Iraqi-Kuwaiti borders.

The chairman of Basra Provincial Council, Sabah al-Bazouni said in a statement that “We objected the contract concluded between Kuwait and an international security company to protect the borders with Iraq since this company is owned by Israeli businessmen.”

“We officially forwarded our objection on this contract and addressed the Iraqi Ministry for Foreign Affairs to prevent putting the borders protection file in hands of companies that we do not trust,” Bazouni added.

He continued saying “This topic may lead to tensions in the Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations as many Iraqi political parties think that the unrest in Iraq is created by foreign agendas including Israeli ones.”

It is worth mentioning that Iraq is conducting initial survey for the borders between both countries in preparation for re-determining them.
