Iraqi parliament reads initial report over Falluja violence events

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Parliament devoted part of today session’s discussions to brief on the initial report over Falluja recent violence events. The Parliament lifted its regular session till Tuesday of next week.

A statement by the Parliament media office cited on Monday “The MP Khalid al-Atiya recited the initial report prepared by the parliamentary investigating commission formed to investigate the violence events that took place in Falluja district on last Friday.”

The commission pointed out that “Falluja mayor office’s report and the district’s citizens’ testimonies stressed killing of 7 persons and inuring of 50 others during the clashes that occurred between the demonstrators there and the army forces.”

“The commission recommended to punish the army elements who involved in this incident and those who used weapons against the army forces in addition to compensate the affected people,” the stateemt added.

“For his part, the Parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi confirmed that the parliament will follow up these recommendations and support the commission to set a final report about the events,” the statement concluded.
