Islamic Party in Kirkuk: Kirkuk bombings aim to create political tensions

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Islamic Party in Kirkuk province stated that the bombings that took place in Kirkuk on Wednesday, aim to create political tensions.

A statement by the IP received by IraqiNews.com cited “The IP condemns the latest bombings in Kirkuk province that target some headquarters of the political parties and local markets.”

“Such bombings are related to the political disputes in the provinces where some sides try to increase them by targeting the citizens,” the statement added, noting that “The protection of the citizens of Kirkuk is the responsibility of all the political parties in the province.”

The IP called the citizens of Kirkuk to “Unify and stop any sides try to disturb the security situation,” calling the local government of Kirkuk to “Conduct an investigation and cooperate with the security forces to stop such security breaches.”

Earlier, a number of civilians were killed and injured in Kirkuk province on Wednesday.

A statement by the Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Dhiya al-Wakeel, stated to IraqiNews.com “Four car bombs went off in various areas in Kirkuk province killing and injuring a number of innocent citizens.”
