Maliki: CoM adopted as Higher National Council for Iraq’s Environment Protection

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki announced adopting the Council of Ministers as the Higher National Council for Iraq Environment Protection.

Maliki said in his speech delivered by his Deputy for Services, Salih al-Mutleg, during ceremony of launching the National Strategy for Iraq’s Environment Protection on Monday “For sake of ensuring the activation of the National Strategy for Iraq Environment Protection, the CoM will be adopted as higher National Council to protect Iraq’s environment where the Ministry of Environment will be the Council’s Rapporteur.”

“We renew our resolution to adopt 2014 a year for Environment in Iraq to protect the country against the risks of pollution,” Maliki added.

“The National Strategy for Environment Protection includes mechanisms to establish natural reserves in Iraq’s various environments to maintain the biodiversity and address many wrong policies which led to loss of many kinds of the country’s animal and plant resources,” the Premier concluded.
