Maliki stresses to Kobler Iraqi Government’s eagerness to launch fair local elections
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, stressed to the UN special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler, the Iraqi Government’s eagerness to conduct fair and transparent local elections across Iraq.
A statement by Maliki’s office cited that “PM Maliki received Kobler at his office in Baghdad where they discussed the issues related to the performance of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).”
The statement quoted Maliki as saying “The Government of Iraq works hard to prepare for fail provincial elections in Iraq, in general, and in Kirkuk province in particular.”
“For his part, Kobler confirmed the UN’s eagerness to relief Iraq from sanctions stated in UN’s Charter, 7th Chapter,” according to the statement.
