Ministry of Interior to punish police who abandoned their posts

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, the Interior Ministry announced taking punitive legal action against a number of officers and associates in the Anbar police and attributed that to abandoning their positions in a number of police stations in some areas of the province.

The Ministry spokesman, Brigadier Saad Maan said, in a statement posted on its website and followed by IraqiNews.com, that “the ministry has taken legal actions and punitive deterrence against a number of officers and the recruits of Anbar police because they left their positions in a number of police stations in some areas of the province.”

Maan emphasized that “the legal procedures involved stopping their salaries and the formation of an investigative boards against them and bring them to the courts of the internal security forces to drive them out of the service. The application of the laws in force against them and the penalties prescribed by law for the internal security forces.”
