Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Khalid al-Alwani of the Iraqiya Slate confirmed that “the Iraqi Government heads towards controlling all the independent boards to use them in targeting the government’s opponents.”

Alwani said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com on Tuesday “The Iraqi Government proceeded the most dangerous step to ruin the democracy in Iraq through toppling the independent bureaus where the last of which was the Accountably & Justice Board to politicize and control it in addition to using the Board in confronting the opposition parties.”

Alwani accused the “State of Law Coalition, headed by the Premier Nouri al-Maliki of seeking to impose their domination on all the independent boards.”

He added “This is obvious when an arrest warrant was issued against the former head of the Independent High Electoral Commission, Faraj al-Haidari, as well as dismissing the head of the Integrity Commission, Raheem al-Ugaili from his post, and accusing the governor of Central Bank of Iraq, Sinan al-Shibibi of corruption.”
