MP calls to punish SJC head for assuming three official titles

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Independent MP Sabah al-Saadi called the Iraqi Parliament to punish the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Midhat al-Mahmoud, over charges related to committing three crimes through assuming three official titles for judicial institutions, that are of the head of each of the SJC, the Judicial Institute and the Federal Cassation Court for 13 years.

In a press conference held at the Parliament building on Tuesday, Saadi stated that “The judicial authority is an independent power and administrated by the applicable laws, however we discovered serious fact hidden for many politicians for more than ten years where some ignored it and some others covered it deliberately as they are also involved in these outlaw acts.”

He added “Hamoud gained many privileges from those three posts as well as taking many resolution that are out of his authority.”
