MP reveals reasons behind SLC refusal for Federal Court law draft

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Adil al-Maliki, of the State of Law Coalition revealed the reasons behind the refusal of the SLC for the Federal Court law draft.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said ” The SLC presented several suggestions to amend this law draft,” noting that “Due to few members of the SLC within the Committee of amending this law, these suggestions were not considered.”

“One of the key suggestions presented by the SLC is to cancel the article that grant the head of the Court a moral authority and to either grant an authority according to a law or not to grant it,” he mentioned.

“The second suggestion presented by the SLC is to cancel the condition of age, which was limited to 70 years, for nominating to the Court membership,” he stressed.

“The third suggestion is related to the possibility of changing all the members of the Federal Court when forming it,” he added.

“We insisted on considering these suggestions to vote on this law,” he concluded.
