Kurdistan Region will continue exporting oil through 2014 – Barzani

Nechirvan Barzani assures exporting oil from Kurdistan Region till end of 2014

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan region, Nechirvan Barzani assured that Kurdistan Region will continue exporting oil till the end of 2014.

Barzani said, while being hosted by the Parliament of the Kurdistan region according to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) “The Kurds will not return back and the era of issuing decisions from Baghdad has ended.” “Baghdad has not shown any step to address the crisis in spite of repeated attempts by the provincial government. There are no constitutional text emphasizes the uniqueness of SOMO to export region’s oil,” he added, noting that “The region expressed readiness to export 100 thousand barrels of crude oil a day, but Baghdad refused that, stressing the readiness of Kurdistan Region to export 250 000 barrels per day , which would be monitored by the Parliament of Kurdistan.”

“The decision to cut the salaries and entitlements of staff of the region was issued by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki as well as delay sending the territorial budget before we export crude oil to Turkey,” noting that there is no guarantee of sent the region’s budget again and the salaries of the staff of the region amounting to 850 billion dinars a month did not reach them, and Baghdad has sent 10% of the budget of the region not 17%,” he concluded.
