Nijaifi criticizes Maliki for violating constitution, right of demonstration

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The parliament Speaker and the leader within the Iraqiya Slate, Osama al-Nijaifi, criticized the Premier and the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki.

A statement by the media office of the parliament received by IraqiNews.com quoted Nijaifi, as saying “The violations to the constitution started after the announcement of the results of the latest elections then politicizing the independent commissions and the judiciary to work according to the government conditions and not the constitution.”

“Recently, Maliki stated that the constitutional legitimacy of the parliament Speaker is invalid due to supporting the rights of the demonstrators where we say that the Iraqi people can only take this legitimacy through the elections by choosing the best to represent them and not those who reject the rights of holding the demonstrations and underestimate them,” he added.

“Those who change the constitutional items according to their desires must stop violating it and listen to the demands of the Iraqi people because they will be the losers if they conflict with the people,” he concluded.
