Nijaifi launches initiative to eliminate crises between FG, Kurdistan RegionG

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, launched an initiative to eliminate the crisis between the Federal Government and the Kurdistani Regional Government to avoid the disputes and the possible civil war in the country.

A statement by Nijaifi’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Nijaifi starts a series of meetings with the political leaders in Baghdad and Erbil to find fundamental solutions for the disputes and to avoid any possible internal conflict that results in negative consequences.”

“The initiative comes on the background of a meeting involved the head of the political blocs on Wednesday at the parliament where they authorized Nijaifi to conduct a series of visits to reduce the tensions and to end the disputes,” the statement concluded.

The relations between the Federal Government and the Kurdistani Regional Government witnessed tensions recently on the background of clashes took place in Tuz Khurmatu on last Friday.

Earlier, bodyguards of a Kurdish figure and elements of Dijla Operations Command clashed on last Friday in eastern Tikrit city; the capital of Salah-il-Din province and the clashes resulted in killing a civilian and injuring elements of DOC.

The Ministry of Pishmirga within Kurdistan Regional Government denied reports over clashes between its forces with elements of Dijla Operation Command in Tuz Khurmatu district on last Friday morning.

The Ministry quoted its General Undersecretary, Lieutenant General Jabbar Yawer, as saying ”The clashes, which took place on last Friday and resulted in deaths and injuries, were due to a personal problem and it was controlled after that.”

For his part, the General Commander of the Armed Forces, Nouri al-Maliki, warned Pishmirga, Gaurds of Kurdistan Region, from changing its positions or coming closer towards the armed forces. \
