Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Osama al-Nijaifi, discussed with the Ambassador of the Arab League, Naji Shalgam, the bilateral relations and the means of developing them.
A statement by Nijaifi’s media office cited “Nijaifi stressed, during receiving Shalgam, the influential role of the Arab League Mission and its positive stances in rehabilitating the Iraqi state,” confirming the necessity of its existence in Iraq.”
“The meeting discussed the political crisis between the Iraqi Central Government and Kurdistan Regional Government where Shalgam praised Nijaifi’s role in alleviating the crisis through presenting his initiative to settle the dispute after it escalated to the point of direct clash,” the statement added.
The statement quoted Nijaifi as saying “We are waiting for the outcomes of the technical-military meetings between both disputing sides, hoping those meetings would give rise to the efforts of resolving the crisis as soon as possible.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides discussed the developments of the Syrian crisis and the role of the Arab League in reducing its ramifications which are reflected negatively on the life of the Syrian people and the whole region.
