No constitutional article permits parliament to host Talabani, says Sahlani

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Zaynab al-Sahlani, assured that there is no constitutional article that permits the parliament to host the President, Jalal Talabani.

She told IraqiNews.com “The parliament has a supervisory authority on the Government and the institution of the State but the constitution does not the parliament the authority to host Talabani.”

“The political blocs can cooperate with Talabani to seek a settlement for the political crisis,” she concluded.

It is worth mentioning that Talabani held several meetings with all the political sides over finding an outlet from the current political crisis.

Earlier, MP, Abdul Salaam al-Maliki, of the State of Law Coalition stated that the President, Jalal Talabani, will release a new initiative to settle the political crisis in Iraq.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said ” The new initiative will include the call to hold the national meeting and the adherence to the reformation as the main principle in addition to settle all the crises according to the constitution and applying the former deals.”
