Peshmerga Minister criticizes Federal MoD over settling security file in disputed areas

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Peshmerga Minister of Kurdistan Region, Sheikh Mustafa, criticizes the Federal Ministry of Defense over its procedures regarding settling the pending issues of the security file in the disputed areas.

A statement by the Peshmerga Ministry received by IraqiNews.com on Tuesday cited “Mustafa received the South Korean Counsel and the accompanying delegation where they discussed the mutual relations.”

Regarding the disputes between Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government, Mustafa said “The Peshmerga Ministry exerted all the efforts to settle the security issue in the disputed area, but unfortunately the Federal MoD is not interested in settling the disputes and provided excuses to delay the settlement which resulted in provoking the Kurdistan Regional Government.”

According to the statement, Mustafa called to “Increase the mutual cooperation between the Peshmerga Ministry and the South Korean Ministry of Defense in the military field and exchanging the experiences.”

“For his part, the South Korean Counsel assured the readiness of his country to develop the mutual relations and to increase the efforts to settle the security issue, expressing his hope to settle the pending issues between Baghdad and Erbil as soon as possible because the Iraqi situation cannot witness more disputes,” the statement concluded.
