PM-designate, Canadian delegation discuss political, security situation in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Designated Prime Minister, Haider Abadi received the Canadian ambassador in Iraq and the accompanied delegation.

A statement by his office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Abadi discussed, during the meeting, which was attended by the charge d’affaires Rorepett Bisset and director of the Canadian Agency for International Cooperation Michael Callan and representative of the Ministry of Defense of Canada in Amman, strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields and the political and security situation in Iraq and the region.”

“The Canadian ambassador congratulated on behalf of his government, Abadi, on the occasion of his appointment, expressing his wishes to success in his mission,” the statement added.

“Abadi expressed that Iraq is looking forward to excellent relations with the countries of the world based on mutual respect and common interests and states should take the initiative that do not have embassies in Baghdad to open to them to strengthen this cooperation,” the statement concluded. /End/
