Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by the Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani, considered the formation of Dijla Operations Command and movements of the Iraqi Army in the disputed areas unsound and unconstitutional policy and it represents an incentive to deepen the current political crisis in Iraq.
A statement by the PUK cited that “The political office of the Union held meeting under supervision of Talabani, on last Thursday evening, in Erbil where the meeting discussed the political developments in Iraq.”
The last few days witnessed an escalation in the tension between Baghdad and Erbil on the background of the recent events that took place in Tuz Khormato district of Salah il-Din province on last Friday when elements from Dijla Operations Command clashed with bodyguards of a Kurdish figure in Tikrit city, capital of Salah il-Din resulted in killing a civilian and injuring a number of Dijla OC’s elements.
