PUK requests Peshmerga or Interior Ministry involvement in new government

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by the President, Jalal Talabani, requested to get the interior or Peshermga Ministries to participate in the next Kurdistan Regional Government.

A statement by the PUK received by IraqiNews.com cited “The negotiation delegations of PUK and KDP for the formation of the new Kurdistan Region cabinet gathered in Erbil chaired by Dr. Barham Salih and Mr. Nechirvan Barzani.”

“The meeting discussed the latest updates regarding formation of the new cabinet and PUK`s perspectives towards the subject, Mr. Imad Ahmed, member of PUK`s negotiations delegations, stated in a press conference after the meeting. Another meeting regarding the same subject is to be arranged soon.”

“Mr. Adnan Mufti, another member of the PUK delegation, said assured that the meeting with the KDP delegation reiterated the notion of a co-existence government,” the statement added.

“PUK insists on receiving its election merits by taking either Interior Ministry or Peshermga Ministry, and also reaffirms that the formation of the government should not last any longer,” the statement concluded.
