Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The member of Karbala Provincial Council of the Ahrar bloc, Tariq al-Khigani, announced that “The head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, did not enter Karbala province after being prevented by a security checkpoint.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “We have been confirmed that Sadr returned to Najaf province when the elements of the checkpoint prevented his motorcade to enter the city of Karbala.”

Earlier, Khigani said to IraqiNews.com “The checkpoint responsible for Karbala-Najaf entrance prevented Sadr’s motorcade from entering the province based on orders issued by the local government there not to allow the Governmental convoys and Officials to enter Karbala during the days of Sha’ban Visit on next Friday.”

He added “After contacting the local government in Karbala, it ordered the checkpoint to allow Sadr’s procession to enter the province,” noting that the Head of ST thanked the security forces on performing their duty and sticking to the orders.”
